CAPTAIN WALMAR & MATE/CHEF TAMIKA
Walmar grew up boating and living along the coast of South Africa; his first week-long boat trip was with his dad at the age of three. He has a long history in the maritime world, both professionally and personally.
Born in Namibia and growing up in a small coastal fishing town called Velddrif in South Africa, the ocean is his second home. He is an avid fisherman and enjoys free diving.
After completing school, Walmar pursued his love of the ocean undertaking Maritime Studies to become a merchant seafarer where he sailed as 2nd officer on chemical tankers worldwide. In 2017, after exhausting his time on tankers he chose yachting as an alternative and has had absolutely no regrets!
He holds a 500t Captain license and has completed many charters from Cape Town harbor as well as navigating across the Pacific from Panama to Yokohama and the Eastern trade routes through the Suez Canal, Europe, and back to the States.Tamika grew up in Melkbosstrand a small surfing town located on the west coast of South Africa. She has a very close bond to the ocean and the maritime industry as her father is a Master mariner who has completed many big salvage operations during his career. Growing up with a father figure heavily involved in the maritime industry has led her in the same direction.
After completing school, she found yachting to be the perfect entry to this amazing industry. Tamika started off her career in the Mediterranean where she worked for an American couple on a privately owned yacht as chef/stewardess. She then saw an opportunity to improve her skills and took on working for multiple high-profile owners in the Middle East offering Silver Service Charters.
She then returned to South Africa to join her now fiancé, Walmar, and after a year of running charters together in South Africa, they have changed tack to run charters in the Caribbean and further their journey together.DECKHAND/STEWARD HEIN
Rounding out our seasoned crew is Hein, an experienced sailor, Dive Master, and renowned mixologist from Langebaan, South Africa. As your deckhand and steward, Hein will create countless ocean adventures that will become lifetime memories for you and your family whether that be learning to free dive, spearfish, or surf on our new eFoil carbon boards. He can’t wait to regale you with his stories and hear about your ocean dreams, as he crafts you the most delicious cocktails each day.

Tru North exceeded every expectation that we had to step onboard a week ago - the drinks never stopped, the sailing was perfect, the stops were gorgeous and the crew always went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.
Never-ending cocktails were fabulous and the chef's culinary creations were over the top! We were absolutely in awe at every meal and still cannot stop talking about the food we ate this week!

Captain found great snorkeling spots, lunch stops, and overnights. The chef's cooking and presentations are so much better than Five Star. Deckhand earned his reputation as the world's best mixologist. This was truly a world-class, over-the-top, sailing adventurer, never to be forgotten with many, many memories.

They are so kind and friendly, so very attentive but in a quiet and unassuming way. They were always at the ready to oblige any request that hadn’t already been anticipated (which was often the case!) but in a way that felt very much like our group was just there on our own, enjoying our time together. Mastering the perfect balance between that extremely high level of service but not ever intruding or being overbearing is not really something that can be taught easily and they all three have the magic touch. Not even to mention the vast knowledge the Captain and crew must have to be able to do this job so masterfully, in terms of boat mechanics, navigation, etc. As a group of boat owners ourselves, it’s truly astounding! An example that comes to mind is when I was snorkeling and called up to Andy to hand me his GoPro and he told me the battery was dead. Not to worry...Capatin to the rescue! He had charged and replaced the battery, so I was good to go.

This is my 5th charter to the BVI and the best of all five. Captain took us to the best spots and went out of his way to be the most gracious host. He even snorkeled with us - helping us find interesting fish - something none of the previous captains had done.
Perhaps, the real highlight of the trip was Chef's cuisine. We were amazed at every meal, both with presentation and taste. We all looked forward to Deckhand's mixology creations too. That coconut drink is first-class!!
All three crew members work so well together with the intention of pleasing their guests.
