CAPTAIN STEVEN
Steven, known as “Frenchie,” combines his background as a professional rugby player for the Natal Sharks with a love for water sports and a dedication to hospitality. Starting as a junior deckhand on the 235’ Superyacht KOGO in 2007, he worked his way up to Chief Officer, exploring the globe across various prestigious yachts, including ALPHA NERO and DAYBREAK. Since 2020, Captain Steven has led the crew of SWEET ESCAPE, focusing on excellent guest experiences and safety. Besides yachting, he’s dedicated to fitness and health, always finding time for a workout and a nutritious smoothie, no matter his schedule.
ENGINEER CHRISTIAN
Raised in the picturesque city of Cape Town, Christiaan developed an early passion for the ocean, spending his youth riding waves, diving, and sailing the chilly Southern Atlantic. Despite earning an honors degree in accounting, he felt a stronger pull towards the sea.
Choosing to chase his dream, Christiaan navigated from Cape Town to the USA, aiming for a career in the vibrant yachting sector. His dedication led him to become a gifted engineer, now with an MCA Y3 chief engineer certification and 15 years of enriching experience.
With Christiaan onboard, we’re confident our vessel is impeccably maintained for every journey we undertake!
CHEF OWEN
Owen brings new meaning to “culinary excellence”. He has been a chef for over 15 years and has worked alongside Michelin-star chefs, such as Ivan Vilches. Owen has won multiple culinary awards and has even competed at the national level. He has worked in high-end fine dining restaurants such as Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast, The Press Club, and Money Order Office in Melbourne.
Both his passion and love for cooking are what drew him into the luxury yachting industry. Owen has worked on several yachts including 213′ DOUBLE DOWN, 164′ INCOGNITO, 161′ HOME among others. His hobbies include surfing, diving, fishing, and gymnastics. Owen looks forward to capturing your culinary dreams onboard with his delicious recipes from around the world- enhanced by his passion and creativity! He will create a unique and unforgettable dining experience for you.

CHIEF STEWARDESS KRISTIN
Kristin’s journey mixes passion with adventure. Growing up with a love for sailing, she quickly took her passion to France, joining the yachting world right after school. Her adventures include multiple Atlantic crossings and earning her yacht master’s qualification.
In Stellenbosch, her hometown, Kristin ventured into entrepreneurship with her café for three years. Her path then steered towards yachting hospitality, and now as Chief Stewardess on M/Y Sweet Escape, ensuring top-notch guest experiences. With a keen sense of understanding guests and maintaining effective communication, she aims to create a comforting, home-like atmosphere on board.
Outside work, Kristin thrives on outdoor activities like running, kitesurfing, and traveling, always eager to meet new people and share extraordinary experiences with her guests.
STEWARDESS FRANKIE
Frankie, hailing from England’s Southeast Coast, stands out among her South African and Australian colleagues with her classic charm. With extensive travel under her belt, she’s everyone’s friend and is renowned for making any request seem manageable. Trust Frankie to take impeccable care of you during your holiday.
Boasting ten years in hospitality and flourishing in the yachting scene, she’s not just about service; fitness is her true calling. Committed to her fitness journey, she has achieved 500 hours as an advanced yoga instructor.
Now calling the Bahamas home, she’s fully embraced island living!
STEWARDESS SAMANTHA
Samantha, our spirited stewardess aboard M/Y Sweet Escape, marries her Australian upbringing with a vivid background in teaching and a deep-rooted passion for art and the ocean. From teaching in London to embracing the yacht life, she infuses her creativity into every aspect of her service. Samantha shines through table decor, bespoke cocktails, and expertly organized parties ensuring every charter guest’s experience exceeds expectations. Attention to detail, from the scent of hand towels to remembering every guest’s preference, underscores the unique and memorable experiences she crafts. Beyond her service, Samantha’s dedication to dance and yoga reflects her commitment to discipline, confidence, and creativity, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home.
DECKHAND LUAN
Raised in Gansbaai, South Africa, Luan found his passion on the ocean waves. Post-high school, he joined his father on a fishing boat, eventually stepping onto a sprawling 200ft Fishing Explorer yacht. It’s here Luan’s maritime journey soared, soaking in invaluable skills. Known for his warm spirit, Luan uplifts and motivates, making moments remarkable. His knack for tuning into others’ needs and making them comfortable is what sets him apart.
Onboard M/Y Sweet Escape, Luan promises an exceptional stay, defined by a personal touch and a flair for creating memorable experiences.
DECKHAND BENJAMIN
From a small town in Northern Indiana to the vibrant coastlines of Florida, Ben’s journey into the yachting industry is a tale of passion and perseverance. After high school, chasing the allure of the sea and inspired by his elder brothers, Ben dipped his toes into the yachting world. His love for the sea, coupled with his eagerness to learn, propelled him into courses that cemented his place in this thrilling industry. Spending meaningful time aboard M/Y Sweet Escape, it’s his dedication, sunny attitude, and hard work that make Ben indispensable to our team and a favorite to call back for charters.
