• Crew

  CAPTAIN HAZEL

  Hazel was born in Medellin Colombia and shortly after his family moved to the coastal Caribbean town of Capurgana, where his love for the ocean and the environment was curated. He spent his days freediving, spearfishing, and spending time with the local fishermen. He was homeschooled by his mother and studied statistics at the University. After two years at the University, his economic conditions changed and he had to return to his coastal town. This was the point at which he started pursuing his maritime career. From this moment he knew he was going to leave Colombia and travel the world.

  He started working with local tourism, taking guests on day charters. He did this for three years, saving every penny to be able to apply for his passport and prepare for leaving the country. He soon found a couple of cruisers who were sailing from his town across to Panama. With no concrete plan, he jumped on board and went to Panama looking for his next opportunity. In Panama he found his first job, initially helping in the yard. Later moving on to the role of deckhand and chef. During this time he was able to get his 200T Yacht Captain license in Panama.

  Covid hit and the industry abruptly closed, forcing Hazel to seek another opportunity. This was when he started working for the Sea Shepard Conservation Society. During his three years there he participated in many campaigns protecting marine life and doing scientific research around the west coast of Mexico. As well as multiple yard periods, strengthening his maintenance skills. After almost three years at Sea Shepard Hazel decided he needed a change of scenery and travelled to the Caribbean to pursue his career in Chartering.

  CHEF/MATE YAH YAH

  Yah Yah was born and raised on a self-sustaining farm in the beautiful region of Cape Town, South Africa. She practically grew up in the kitchen with her nanny by her side giving her much-needed supervision. From making cheeses to processing meat, from pickles to preserves there is nothing that Yah Yah can’t make from scratch. Selling baked goods from the age of 6 at the local farmers market, cooking has been a part of her life since the very start.

  Her love for the ocean was certainly sparked by the fact that their family farm bordered the coast. She was able to harvest fresh seafood directly from their property and spend her days on the beach cooking her harvest on the fire.

  First Class

  We have been to the BVI twice prior and chartered a similar boat. Our experience on Scuba Doo was first class and exceeded our expectations. The crew were phenomenal. They went out of their way every day to accommodate our requests and make an amazing experience for our kids. From tubing, diving, E-foiling, snorkeling and beach excursions every day was unique and memorable. Scuba Doo is very spacious and well laid out. We spent most of our down time relaxing up front or up top. The boat has everything you need and high end appointments. The Wifi worked excellent the entire trip and was easy to check work emails if needed. The food and attention to detail was fabulous. Hands down the best cuisine we have experienced on a BVI charter. Our kids who can be picky loved every meal and wished their mother could cook like this! We were sad to leave but will always remember this trip and look forward to returning on a boat with this crew.

  Michelin Star

  A very special experience for a multitude of different reasons. The freedom to explore all of the BVIs, making it feel like an inclusive experience complete with your own Michelin star worthy chef . This trip would have been wildly different without them leading the way.
  
  Truly- a once in a lifetime experience that is totally worth it.
  
  Very, very sad for this trip to come to a close.

  Out of This World

  I just chartered Yacht Scuba Doo 50. Had an amazing week with food out of this world . The Captain and Chef are very attentive of all our needs and made our sail the best . Highly recommend the experience.

  Highly Recommend

  I just spent a week this crew aboard Scuba Doo
  I have to say they make work look like fun and made our charter feel like we are their friends .
  Each meal was delicious and presented like being in a fancy fancy restaurant.
  I have more pictures of my meals than I should but needed to have them.
  I recommend highly trying to get this experience you won’t regret it.

  Relaxing

  Thanks so much for all the adventures and food for the trip! So delightful and relaxing. I am in awe of your teamwork and organization which makes things run so smoothly. All of the food was such a gourmet treat for me-love all the seafood!! Scallops-yum! Thanks for all the great views, sunsets, moonrises, etc.Paddleboarding @ sunset-awesome!   Wonderful Vacation

  Awesome Memories

  Thank you for the amazing sailing and diving adventure! The service and food was awesome and very tasty. The stops we made were perfect for us and the views and scenery are unmatched with anything we ever saw. Thanks for teaching the kids to scuba dive!! We had a blast exploring with you guys and hanging out! Thanks for the awesome weekend memories for a lifetime! You two are super kind, funny, and considerate and we wish you the best! Thank you for being so accommodating with our food preferences and diabetes needs. We wish you guys the best with the rest of the season.   Spot On

  We just wanted to tell you both Thank you for taking such excellent care of our family this week! We all accomplished getting Ellen in the water for 6 dives! The captain's cocktail hour was fantastic-especially the Manhattans! All your suggestions were spot on. The Baths on Virgin Gorda were particularly a treat. Wreck of the Rhone and seeing Gillian with the baby turtle at Soggy Dollar and the shart at Whistling Cay were my highlights! Best of luck with your next adventures!

  Memorable Trip

  You Are an Amazing Part of the Kids Memories

  One of the main reasons for our trip was to make memories with our family, especially the kids. We can’t say thank you enough for everything the two of you have done.
