  CAPTAIN ROB & CHEF/MATE BELINDA

  Born in South Africa and growing up on the East Coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, Rob has been a “water boy” his whole life. He is an accomplished sailor with over 30,000 sea miles under his belt on a range of vessels. Worthy of mention was the family sailing adventure where Rob, Belinda, and their 2 children embarked on a 4-year world cruise on their catamaran, Shayile. They cruised the East Coast of Africa, the Indian Ocean, SE Asia, Indonesia, and Australia.

  Rob has a passion for the ocean and loves water sports. He is a qualified surf lifesaver, pilot, advanced diver, and avid fisherman. He has a particular passion for saltwater flyfishing. He loves to go out and hopefully return with something delicious to toss on the BBQ. Mountaineering is Rob’s other passion, and he has hours of adventures on mountains spanning the globe. His epic adventure to Mt. Everest is worth listening to over a cocktail sundowner!

  When Rob is not out skippering and entertaining, you will see him working in the galley with Belinda. Cocktails and the BBQ are part of Rob’s regime, and he knows the perfect stories to tell while you enjoy them!

  Born and raised on the East Coast of South Africa, Belinda has spent her life close to the sea, camping, swimming, scuba diving, and fishing as well as hiking and climbing the inland Drakensberg mountains. She is a ‘people’s person’ and in addition to her culinary training, is also trained as a professional nurse, specializing in maternity.

  Belinda is a generous and passionate cook who has been influenced by travel and time spent in many different countries. She is particularly fond of Asian cuisine, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, but also enjoys spicy Mexican, Indian, and Mediterranean influences. She loves to cook fish and seafood and pair it with local, fresh, seasonal ingredients. She enjoys bright and bold flavors, especially citrus notes which do well to compliment the Caribbean climate. Delicious cool and creamy desserts round off dinner and ensure full and satisfied guests!

  Waking up to fresh morning coffee and watching the sunset with drinks and appetizers are the absolute essence of life aboard and she can’t wait to welcome you!

  We Hope For Another Trip

  We recently returned from a sailing trip on the Mystic. This was our first sailing trip. It could not have been better. The chef prepared amazing meals for us. We had a former chef in our group and even he was amazed and what she came up with in a small boat kitchen. The captain was terrific. He was always happy to take us where we wanted to go. He had very interesting stories about his life on the sea and other places. It would be hard to imagine a better crew. The boat was also very well appointed. We hope to do another sailing trip in the future!

  Best Trip Of My Life

  If I said that my trip with Mystic was the number one best trip of my life, I wouldn't be lying! Private sailing, crystal blue waters, snorkeling with turtles, and stingrays, and wonderful conversation with my favorite people, what could make it better? I'll tell you what could make it better, the chef, she took this vacation to another level. Each meal was part of the adventure. Exquisite in flavor, and designed to our tastes, she made exception after exception in making exceptional cuisine, and plated it like it was the art that it was. The captain was an amazing captain, who brought so much security and comfort to the group knowing that we were in such capable hands. If you are lucky enough to get them to lead your charter, get him to tell you his adventure stories of years of sailing around the world and his famous experience at Everest base camp. Well worth the investment to spend time with not only amazingly talented people in their own rights, but such wonderful people. I can't wait to do another adventure with them!

  Absolutely Fabulous

  Who ever said that there is no gourmet food in the BVI has certainly not had the pleasure of eating from the Mystic’s floating kitchen with chef chef and at the helm, and to reference as ‘just the captain’ would be like saying Luciano Pavarotti could sing a note or two. We just returned from a week in the BVI with these two, and the experience was absolutely fabulous!

  Best Vacation Ever

  Thanks for the trip of a lifetime. You both took such good care of us, it's hard settling back into our regular lives. Good luck with your new boat. We'll be back!
  
  Captain and Chef-As beautiful as the scenery was, As fantastic as the food was, Even though the beer was plentiful. The rum punches and pina coladas were pretty good too. The best part was the all the people on board the Belle Vie!

  We can’t even describe how simply magnificent this whole week has been for us six. Honestly, the entire trip has far surpassed anything we could have imagined!!
  We knew that the location would be spectacular when we planned the trip over a year ago, but to have lucked to have gotten you both as our guides through this life changing vacation was where we truly hit the jackpot!
  We chose this charter specifically because of you both (your bios and experience) and we could not have found anyone better fit to handle such a crazy group!
  Our entire trip felt perfectly created to our likings and preferences!
  It was as if you both have known our group all our lives and created the perfect itinerary and menu just for us. (Seriously, the food was absolutely, freaking phenomenal!) So much love was poured into each meal you made for us.
  We were so impressed we received a 5-star meal from the confines of such as small space!
  Thank you for the laughter, the lessons in sailing and for sharing stories with us of your life adventures!
  Thank you for taking such great care of us the entire week, the time we have spent has been food for the souls!
  Best of luck as you move on to Mystic. We look forward to hearing and seeing all your adventures. If you ever want to remember our group and charter, head over to Foxy’s to see Dave’s face on Caprice’s swimsuit!!
  Hopefully, we will all be able to return to see it ourselves. In the meantime, we appreciate you checking in on it every now and then.

  The crew were excellent! The food – a phenomenal chef, we all gained weight eating wonderful meals. The best chef in the entire tandem flotilla and was really amazing. The attention to detail into everything that is served is incredible. We had three great meals and a nice snack every day. Captain is a very capable professional boat captain and sailor. We felt safe and secure at all times. He does everything 110% and is a really nice, personable guy. We created our own itinerary but it worked out well. We had two windy days that made for more difficult sailing but otherwise it was fine.

  Best Time Ever!

  We had the time of our lives! Best time ever for us as a couple. You made our stay a true life moment from beginning to end. Your wonderful personalities, extensive experience and knowledge of the seas and sailing were exactly what we were looking for. We would like the Mystic’s owners to know that they could not have placed their brand new boat and investment in more caring or capable hands!

  Best Trip To Date

  Not one of our 20 members were disappointed with their trip.
  It was our best trip to date, and we’ve been on a lot of other ones.
  The itinerary was perfect and they catered to our every desire.
  If we wanted to change plans mid trip they did their best to accommodate
  us in every detail. We didn’t miss a thing!!! Plenty of play toys for the adults and children.Snorkel gear was supplied for all, along with water boards and rafts and other toys.
  I know everyone who has a good captain thinks theirs is the best. I KNOW the captain on my boat is the number one captain for a charter. In his command we always felt safe and secure in his knowledge and handling of our sailboat. Always he greeted us with his warm smile and pleasant disposition. He never seemed rushed or bothered by all the needs of our family group of twenty. At
  the end of the charter we felt like we were leaving a dear friend. I cannot give him enough accolades! He was easy to talk to, always trying to serve his guests and accommodate them with any desire of their hearts.  They truly compliment
  each other and work well together. We were beyond blessed to have them as our crew. They made our trip enjoyable and pleasing. He continued to smile throughout our exploits. He was helpful and quick to meet our needs. I could go on and on about telling what a great captain he is. You will not be disappointed if you are fortunate enough to have him captain your sailboat!!! A Plus Plus!!!
  Chef  will not disappoint pleasing you with her delicious cuisine. Every one meal was a delight. She is an exceptional chef and her recipes will make you want to arrive at the table on time. She caters to your every desire and wants to please you. She is most pleasant and has a warm personality. My only complaint is the four pounds she put on me during our week stay. You will love they chef and she you will leave you with wonderful memories of the scrumptious food she
  serves. A true delight in every way!!!
  The boat was very clean and well maintained. It was very comfortable and spacious with lots of places to get away!
