CAPTAIN JEFF & CHEF/MATE CAITLIN
Jeff and Caitlin have been working together since they met on the job at a dive shop in coastal North Carolina in 2010. Employment opportunities have taken them around the globe and back, settling in the BVI in 2012. They transitioned to crewed sailing charters from running dive boats in 2014 and haven’t looked back, logging over 150 charters with many happy guests who often return to make more memories. Their specialty is active, adventurous groups who want to explore all that the BVI has to offer above and below the water and love introducing kids to the ocean, so bring on the families! The BVI has been home for Jeff and Caitlin for many years but will always hold a special place as it’s where they were married on a beach in Virgin Gorda.
Captain Jeff holds a USCG 200-ton Near-Coastal Masters license and has been operating boats commercially for over 15 years. Hailing from Mississippi, Jeff cultivated his love for boats and the water in his adult life and can’t imagine doing anything else. He was originally trained as a high-level dive instructor and naturally progressed to earning a captain’s license to operate the boats he’d previously worked on as crew. Running crewed charters allows for a more relaxed pace and the ability to tailor charters to each guest’s preferences, something that was more difficult to accomplish on dive boats. Jeff is a wealth of knowledge about the BVI, so make sure you listen in for “story time with Captain Jeff” while on charter.
Chef Caitlin also comes to chartering from a professional diving and marine research background but has been cooking since she was a small child and has photos to prove it. She grew up in Pennsylvania and spent her formative years in the kitchen with her mom and Italian grandmother. Most of her menu items are cultivated through family recipes and world travels, bolstered by training at Ashburton Chefs Academy. She loves incorporating fresh, local ingredients with Mediterranean and Asian influences. Virtually everything Caitlin cooks is assembled from scratch, including an assortment of bread and pasta. She’s happy to accommodate a range of allergies and specialty diets. When her schedule allows, Caitlin loves getting in the water for guided snorkel tours with the guests, dusting off her marine science degree to talk about fish behavior and biology.
In the off-season, Jeff and Caitlin spend time in the mountains of Western North Carolina where Jeff enjoys riding his motorcycle through all the twisting, scenic roads and Caitlin spends time volunteering at the local animal shelter. No better way to recharge after a busy charter season than with mountain views, crisp air, and not a large body of water in sight. They’re not able to have a dog on board during the charter season, so they “rent” as many as possible through the foster program at the shelter and take them out camping and hiking as frequently as they can! -

April 2022 Charter Guests-FriendsApr 21, 2024Experience Of A LifetimeWhere to begin? The moment we set sail we knew it was going to be an experience of a lifetime! The ocean and islands were just breathtaking. The hues of the ocean water will forever be embedded in our minds. The scuba diving expeditions were the best we have ever experienced. Our favorite spots were: Ann at Tipsy’s, the Soggy Dollar experience, Hendos for the delicious cocktails, Saba Rock’s “cool bar” with the tarpon; and Sydney’s for the best lobster we have ever had. And of course the food…the food…the food. We savored each meal and look forward to the cookbook!
March 2022 Charter GuestsMar 11, 2024Incredible!There is no way to put into words how incredible you made our stay on the boat. You guys are a seamless, well-oiled machine that made everything feel effortless (we know how much hard work it is). Your kindness, smiling faces, energy, knowledge of the BVI, just everything. We have been fortunate enough to have experienced a number of charters throughout the Caribbean and you guys were the best!
January 2022 Charter GuestsJan 4, 2024No Words! We can’t put into words what an amazing time we have had. Fell in love with beauty and relaxed charm of BVI, but it was the knowledge of the skipper and the hospitality and charm (not to mention fantastic cuisine) of the “Galley Slaves” that made is such a special New Years experience. We thought the week in the BVI exceeded expectations. The captain was undoubtably not only a skipper who knew how to master the yacht, but had an intimate knowledge of the islands and reefs. The chef was a great cook, utterly charming and all our children adored her. All in all, a fantastic experience, the yacht and crew were brilliant! Thank You!!!
March 2021 Charter GuestsMar 9, 2024A Dream Come TrueA dream come true!!! Thank you so much for the most wonderful BVI experience. Everything was first class. I can't imagine how the chef came up with so many great eating presentations. We were truly spoiled all day every day. The captain's knowledge of the islands and guiding us to the best sights in the islands was above and beyond. Thank you Port To Vino for a vacation above all vacations. A dream come true!!
Steve & Ann 2019Oct 28, 2023Something Very SpecialAnn and I just got back from a week aboard Port To Vino...The crew are head and shoulders superior to any crew that we have ever had. The boat is beautiful and we really enjoyed the added features of the blue underwater lights for the dinghy and really cool lounging bolsters for the trampoline. The chef has a remarkable ability to create complex and subtle flavors which add several layers of depth to her meals. Every happy hour Captain served us a different cocktail creation, all of which were perfectly light and refreshing, and none of which I (a semi-professional drinker) have ever tasted (the setting...at anchor lounging on the new bolsters under the new fore deck shades...certainly doesn't hurt the taste of the cocktails!) . The crew could draw a map of the details of every dive spot from memory and they have a deep fund of knowledge about of sea life and fish behavior. Every morning they had made the beds, cleaned the bathrooms and done some sort of magic folding the towels into animal shapes...before we had finished breakfast...we called her the housekeeping Ninja. All that on top of having delightful personalities! The crew are real pros. They make the experience aboard Port To Vino is something very special.
The U FamilyOct 10, 2019Our charter was one of the best vacations we have ever done. The personal touches by the crew made it a great event. The marine knowledge made a big difference during snorkeling-every time was very unique. The chef was great and put special touches on each meal. The captain was very focused on safety, but he also was so much fun and made great drinks. We can't wait to charter again!

Jennifer UhrichApr 20, 2019Just got back from an AMAZING week on Port to Vino! The boat is incredible and gorgeous, and Captain Jeff and Chef Caitlin are absolutely wonderful!! We sailed, snorkeled, dived, hiked and bar hopped our way around the entire BVI -- even got to swim with dolphins -- all while enjoying Caitlin's amazingly delicious, fresh from scratch meals and Jeff's specialty cocktails. Port to Vino was spacious, comfortable, incredibly well appointed and tastefully decorated. Jeff and Caitlin even arranged a spectacular tour with BVI Adventure Tours for us when they found out we had a gap day before flying out. I cannot possibly recommend it more highly. A truly unforgettable experience!!
Rick WMar 22, 2019The crew were great, very professional and lots of fun. They interacted perfectly with our group. The boat is amazing and perfectly maintained. Food was awesome and made from scratch daily. We had several restaurant owners on board; all were impressed!
